§ 205 Wildlife Hunting Regulations

This law gives the wildlife commission power to set or change rules about when, where, how many, how big, and how you can catch fish, amphibians, and reptiles.

Key Takeaways

  • •The commission can set, extend, shorten, or end open and closed seasons.
  • •The commission can set, change, or remove bag limits, possession limits, and size limits.
  • •The commission can define where it is allowed to take these animals.
  • •The commission can prescribe the methods and means used to take them.

Example

A family wants to go fishing in a local lake, but the commission has closed that lake for a few months to protect breeding fish.

Because the commission can establish open and closed seasons, the lake is closed to fishing during those months, so the family must wait until the season reopens.
