§ 10820 Game Refuges Designation

This law says the places listed in this article are called game refuges, and any old mention of a “Fish and Game District” that was a refuge now means “Game Refuge.”

Key Takeaways

  • •The listed places are officially game refuges.
  • •Old references to a “Fish and Game District” that were refuges now refer to a “Game Refuge.”
  • •The name change applies starting January 1, 2024.

Example

A county map from 2022 labels an area as “Lakeview Fish and Game District.” After this law takes effect, the same area is now called “Lakeview Game Refuge.”

The law tells us to treat the old name as the new name, so people know the area is still protected but under the new title.
