§ 7884 Juvenile Court Privacy Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •Court hearings about kids are usually private. Only the kid, their parents, and guardians can be there unless they say others can come.
  • •The judge can let other people in if they have a good reason to be there, like if they are important to the case or the court's work.
  • •This rule is to protect the kid's privacy.

Example

A court hearing about where a 12-year-old will live after their parents divorce.

Normally, only the kid, their parents, and their lawyers can be in the room. But if the kid's teacher wants to come and tell the judge how the kid is doing in school, the judge might let them in because it helps the case.
