§ 3593 Property Settlement Agreement Dates

• •This law only applies to property settlement agreements made on or after January 1, 1970.
• •If the agreement was made before January 1, 1970, this law does not apply.
• •For old agreements (before 1970), a different law from 1967 is used instead.

A couple got divorced in 1965 and made an agreement about who gets the house.

This law doesn’t apply to their agreement because it was made before 1970. Instead, the rules from a 1967 law will be used.
