§ 78709 Assessment Payment Surety Bond

Key Takeaways

  • •If you don't pay a fee or charge you owe, the commission can make you get a special promise (called a surety bond).
  • •This promise is like a guarantee that you will pay what you owe later.
  • •The commission decides how much this promise should be and how long you need to keep it.

Example

Imagine you own a small shop and forget to pay a required fee to the city.

The city can make you get a surety bond, which is like a promise from a bank that you will pay the fee later. If you don’t pay, the bank will cover it.
