§ 71129 Surety Bond Requirement

Key Takeaways

  • •If you don't pay a fee you owe, the commission can make you get a special promise (called a surety bond) to guarantee you'll pay later.
  • •The commission decides how much this promise costs and how long you need to keep it.
  • •This is on top of any other punishment you might get for not paying.

Example

If you own a small business and don't pay a required fee to the government on time.

The government can make you get a surety bond (like a promise with money behind it) to make sure you pay what you owe. You might also still have to pay a fine.
