§ 77965 Cut Flower Price Reporting

Key Takeaways

  • •The law helps California flower growers by collecting and sharing fair price info for different types of flowers.
  • •Flower growers who join must share their sales info, but their names and details are kept secret.
  • •Only big-picture info (like average prices) can be shared publicly, not individual grower data.
  • •The rules for how this info is collected and shared must be approved by the government.

Example

A flower farmer in California grows roses and wants to know if they're selling them at a fair price.

The farmer joins the program and shares their rose sales info. The state collects this info from all farmers, keeps the farmer's name secret, and then shares average rose prices with everyone. This helps the farmer know if their prices are too high or too low.
