§ 77320 Commission Referendum Funding Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •Before a vote happens, the people who want the commission must pay money to cover the costs of the vote.
  • •If there's money left after the vote, it goes back to the people who paid it.
  • •If the commission is created, it can pay back the people who paid for the vote and any legal costs they had.

Example

A group of neighbors wants to create a new neighborhood council. They need to have a vote to see if everyone else wants it too.

The neighbors have to pay money first to cover the cost of the vote. If there's money left after the vote, they get it back. If the council is created, it can pay the neighbors back for the vote and any legal costs they had.
