§ 66626 Handler Assessment Penalties

• •If you're a handler, you must pay your assessment on time.
• •If you don't pay on time, you'll owe an extra 10% of what you were supposed to pay.
• •You'll also owe 2% more every month on what you still haven't paid.
• •The extra money you owe goes to the same place as the original payment.

A farmer is supposed to pay $1,000 for their assessment by June 1st.

If the farmer doesn't pay on time, they will owe an extra $100 (10% of $1,000) right away. Then, for every month they don't pay, they owe an extra 2% on the $1,000. So after one month, they would owe $1,120 total.
