§ 65674 Statutory Severability Clause

Key Takeaways

  • •If one part of this law is found to be unfair or doesn't work, the rest of the law still counts.
  • •The law should be understood in a broad and flexible way.
  • •Even if the law doesn't work for one person, it can still work for others.

Example

Imagine a rule at school that says no running in the halls or the playground. If the teacher says the 'no running' rule is unfair for the playground but fine for the halls, kids still can't run in the halls.

The law works the same way. If one part is unfair, the rest of the law still applies to everyone else.
