§ 59855 Producer Marketing Program Approval

Key Takeaways

  • •A marketing program starts only if most farmers agree in writing.
  • •Either 65% of farmers who made over half the crop must agree, or half the farmers who made 65% of the crop must agree.
  • •The agreement is based on how much of the crop was made last season.

Example

A group of orange farmers want to start a new way to sell their oranges together.

The plan can only start if either 65 out of 100 farmers (who grew more than half of last year’s oranges) agree, or if 51 out of 100 farmers (who grew 65% of last year’s oranges) agree. They must sign a paper saying yes.
