§ 59249 Marketing Order Enforcement Costs

Key Takeaways

  • •If the state sues someone for breaking farming or marketing rules, and the state wins, the person who broke the rules has to pay the state's costs.
  • •The money paid goes to the group that made the rules and the state's farming department.
  • •This only happens if the state wins the case.

Example

A farmer doesn't follow the rules about how to sell oranges set by the state.

The state sues the farmer and wins. The farmer has to pay back the money the state spent on the lawsuit. This money goes to the group that made the orange-selling rules.
