§ 58037 Warehouse Receipt Certification Fees

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can check and confirm how much and what kind of stuff is in a warehouse.
  • •They do this to help protect the people who own, buy, or lend money for that stuff.
  • •They charge a fee for this service, but the fee only covers the cost of doing the job.

Example

A farmer stores 1000 bags of wheat in a warehouse and wants to sell them. A buyer is not sure if the wheat is really there or if it's good quality.

The farmer can ask the government to check the warehouse and confirm that the wheat is there and it's good. The government will charge a small fee for this check, but it helps the buyer trust the farmer.
