§ 57554 Crop Sale Proceeds Definition

Key Takeaways

  • •Money from selling crops where special chemicals or seeds were used is called 'proceeds'.
  • •Some money from these sales can be taken out for taxes, fees, or court orders.
  • •If a farmer is part of a special group (cooperative), some money can also go to them.
  • •Not all the sale money goes to the farmer—some is kept aside for important things first.

Example

A farmer sells corn that was grown using special seeds.

The money from selling the corn doesn’t all go to the farmer. Some is taken out for taxes, and some might go to a farming group they’re part of. If a court says so, even more money could be taken out.
