§ 5602 Abandoned Crop Removal Order

Key Takeaways

  • •If a plant or crop is left alone and not taken care of, the court can order it to be removed or destroyed.
  • •This only happens if the court thinks it's really important for the farms and agriculture in the area.
  • •The court will give a specific time to remove or destroy the neglected plants or crops.

Example

A farmer plants a field of tomatoes but then leaves town for months without arranging for anyone to water or harvest them. The tomatoes start to rot and attract pests that could spread to nearby farms.

The court can order the rotting tomatoes to be destroyed to protect other farms in the area. They will give a deadline, like 'within 10 days,' to get rid of the tomatoes.
