§ 5464 Lien Termination On Redemption

Key Takeaways

  • •If the government or a city takes over your property, you lose the right to buy it back.
  • •Any debts tied to that property (like a loan) disappear when the government takes it.
  • •This only happens if the government officially ends your right to get the property back.

Example

You stop paying your property taxes, and the city takes your house.

Once the city officially says you can’t buy it back, any loans or debts on that house are gone too.
