§ 52903 Out-Of-District Cotton Ginning Permits

• •Cotton grown outside a certain area can sometimes be cleaned (ginned) inside that area, but only if the seeds used to grow it meet special rules.
• •The person who gets permission to do this must follow instructions on what to do with the cotton and seeds after cleaning.
• •The person might have to pay up to $4 for each bale of cotton to cover the cost of making sure the rules are followed.

A farmer grows cotton in one county but wants to clean it in another county where the rules are stricter.

The farmer can ask for permission to clean the cotton in the stricter county, but only if the seeds they planted meet the county’s rules. After cleaning, the farmer must do what the permission says with the cotton and seeds, and might have to pay a small fee for each bale.
