§ 43035 Owner Notification Requirements

• •If you get a notice about a property problem but you don’t own the property alone, you must tell the officer who sent the notice the names and addresses of all other owners or people who have a claim to the property.
• •If you knowingly hide the names or addresses of other owners or claimants, you can be held responsible for any losses they suffer because of your concealment.

You rent a house with your friends, and the city sends you a notice saying the yard is a mess and needs to be cleaned up. You know your landlord and roommates also have a say in the property, but you don’t tell the city about them.

If the city fines the landlord or your roommates because they didn’t know about the notice, you could be responsible for paying those fines because you hid their names.
