§ 42884 Fruit Disposal Order Compliance

Key Takeaways

  • •You can't sell or give away fruits, nuts, or vegetables that have a disposal order unless you follow the order exactly.
  • •The disposal order tells you who you can give the food to or where you can take it.
  • •If you want to give the food to someone else or take it somewhere else, you need written permission from an enforcing officer.

Example

A farmer has a bunch of oranges that the government says must be thrown away because they are not safe to eat. The disposal order says the oranges must go to a specific trash place.

The farmer can't give the oranges to his friend or sell them at a market. He also can't take them to a different trash place. He has to follow the order and take them to the trash place listed. If he wants to do something different, he needs to get special permission in writing.
