§ 42683 Fruit And Vegetable Packaging Standards

Key Takeaways

  • •The law is about rules for packing fruits, nuts, and vegetables.
  • •The rules should make it easy to handle and identify these foods.
  • •The rules should also think about what other places (like the federal government) say and what the industry already uses.
  • •The goal is to help California's fruit, nut, and vegetable businesses stay competitive.

Example

A farmer in California wants to sell oranges.

The farmer has to follow rules about how to pack the oranges. The rules say the boxes should be easy to carry, have clear labels, and be similar to what other farmers use. This helps everyone know what they're buying and keeps California oranges competitive with oranges from other places.
