§ 40871 Tomato Delivery Inspection Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If a farmer sells tomatoes to a company, the company must check the tomatoes quickly.
  • •The check must happen soon after the tomatoes arrive at the agreed place.
  • •The company can't take too long to do this check.

Example

A farmer delivers a truckload of tomatoes to a ketchup factory as agreed in their contract.

The factory must inspect the tomatoes right away, not leave them waiting for days. If they don’t, they’re breaking the rule.
