§ 39352 Margarine Shipping Labeling Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •You can't ship margarine or dairy spreads unless they are labeled correctly.
  • •The label must show the true name of the product.
  • •This rule applies to anyone shipping these products or carriers receiving them.
  • •If the product is just passing through California from another country, this rule doesn’t apply.

Example

A company tries to ship a tub of margarine labeled as 'butter'.

This is against the law because the label is wrong. The tub must be labeled as 'margarine' or its real name.
