§ 36636 Temporary Standard Renewal Limits

Key Takeaways

  • •A temporary rule for a product can be extended for one year if the boss thinks more time is needed to see if the product will sell well.
  • •The boss can give a second extension, but only if no law has been proposed to make the rule permanent during the first extension.
  • •The temporary rule cannot last more than three years, no matter what.

Example

A company makes a new kind of juice and gets a temporary rule to sell it. After one year, they ask for more time to see if people like it.

The boss can say yes to one more year. If they ask again, the boss can only say yes if no one has tried to make a permanent rule for this juice yet. But after three years, the temporary rule goes away for good.

The maximum duration of a temporary standard, including any renewals, shall not exceed three years. (Repealed and added by Stats. 1986, Ch. 438, Sec. 2.)
