§ 29103 Beehive Removal Pesticide Application

Key Takeaways

  • •Beekeepers must move their hives away from certain areas when told to do so.
  • •If beekeepers don’t move their hives, farmers can still spray pesticides on flowers.
  • •Farmers won’t be in trouble if bees get hurt after they spray, as long as they followed the rules.

Example

A farmer tells a beekeeper to move their hives away from an orange grove before spraying pesticides.

If the beekeeper doesn’t move the hives, the farmer can spray the pesticides. If bees get sick or die because of the spray, the farmer isn’t responsible as long as they warned the beekeeper first.
