§ 29053 Brand Transfer Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If you buy a brand (like for cows) and don’t have one already, you can use the bought brand if you send a bill of sale and a fee to the director.
  • •If you already have a brand, you can add the new one to your name for free, but you must destroy the old branding tools and tell the director.
  • •You have to follow the rules about mailing and fees set by the director.

Example

A farmer buys a brand from another farmer to mark his cows.

If the farmer doesn’t have a brand yet, he must send a bill of sale and pay a fee to use the new brand. If he already has a brand, he can add the new one for free but must destroy the old branding iron and tell the director.
