§ 21743 Cattle Consignment Sale Records

Key Takeaways

  • •If you sell cattle for someone else at a public market, you must fill out a paper with the owner's name, your name, and details about each cow (like if it's a boy or girl, what kind it is, and any brands on it).
  • •The owner or their helper must sign this paper.
  • •You have to keep this paper for one year after selling the cow.
  • •If a police officer or someone from the department asks, you must show them this paper.

Example

Farmer Joe asks his friend Sam to sell his cows at the local cattle market.

Sam has to write down Joe's name, his own name, and details about each cow (like if it's a boy or girl cow and what breed it is). Joe or someone he trusts must sign this paper. Sam has to keep this paper for one year, and if a police officer asks, Sam must show it to them.
