§ 21705 Animal Shipment Documentation Responsibility

• •The person sending animals (shipper) is responsible for making sure the papers about the animals are correct.
• •The driver or carrier is not responsible if the papers have wrong info, but they must have the papers with them during the trip.
• •The driver must give the papers to the person getting the animals so they can show them to the inspector.

A farmer sends cows to a new farm and gives the driver papers saying the cows are healthy.

If the papers are wrong and the cows are actually sick, the farmer (not the driver) is in trouble. But the driver must carry the papers and give them to the new farm owner so they can show them to the inspector.
