§ 21058 Cattle Shipment Documentation Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •When cows are moved, they need papers to show where they came from and where they're going.
  • •The papers must include who owns the cows, who is buying them, and who is moving them.
  • •The truck moving the cows must have its license number written on the papers.
  • •If the state doesn’t check cow brands, a health paper or sale paper is okay.

Example

A farmer sells 20 cows to a buyer in another town.

The farmer must give the truck driver a paper with the sale date, where the cows are picked up, the farmer’s name, the buyer’s name, the truck’s license number, and the farmer’s signature. If the farmer doesn’t have this paper, the cows can’t be moved legally.
