§ 20435 Animal Possession Investigation

• •If a cop or inspector thinks you have an animal or animal part (like a hide or meat) that isn’t yours, they can take it from you.
• •They can also tell you where to leave it while they check if you really own it or have the right to have it.
• •This is to stop people from having animals or animal parts they shouldn’t have, like stolen or illegal ones.

If someone is carrying a deer hide in their truck and a game warden thinks it might be poached (illegally hunted),

the warden can take the hide or tell the person to leave it somewhere while they check if the person got it legally.
