§ 15011 Commercial Feed Ingredient Standards

This law says the government sets rules for what can go into animal food to keep animals and people safe. It also makes sure animals aren't given certain medicines too close to when they're used for food.

Key Takeaways

  • •The government decides what can and can't be in animal food.
  • •They set limits on chemicals and medicines in animal food to keep animals safe.
  • •They also make sure animals aren't given certain medicines too close to when they're used for food, so people don't eat unsafe meat or milk.

Example

A farmer feeds his cows special food with medicine to keep them healthy.

The government makes rules about how much medicine can be in the cow's food and how long before the cow can be used for milk or meat. This keeps the milk and meat safe for people to eat.
