§ 12536 Pest Management Advisory Committee

This law tells the director to set up a pest‑management advisory group that helps pick and promote eco‑friendly ways to control pests, and it lets money be used for grants based on the group’s advice.

Key Takeaways

  • •The director must form a pest‑management advisory committee and set its purpose, members, and rules.
  • •The director (or a designee) is the chair; the secretary (or a designee) is the vice‑chair.
  • •The committee’s job is to help the department find and promote environmentally safe pest‑control methods.
  • •Money from the pesticide fund can be spent on pest‑management grants if the chair and vice‑chair agree to follow the committee’s recommendations.

Example

A town wants to cut down the number of mosquitoes without harming the environment.

The director creates a pest‑management advisory committee, the committee suggests using natural predators instead of harsh chemicals, and the town can apply for a grant to fund that plan because the chair and vice‑chair approve the recommendation.
