§ 11923 Pest Control Aircraft Fees

County boards can charge pilots a fee for registering their pest‑control aircraft, but the fee can never be more than $10 a year for a new in‑person registration or $5 a year for an extra county registration.

Key Takeaways

  • •Counties can charge a registration fee, but it can’t be more than $10 or $5 depending on the situation.
  • •First‑time in‑person registration in the work county costs up to $10 per year.
  • •Adding an extra county when already registered elsewhere costs up to $5 per year.

Example

A pilot lives in County A and wants to register his spray plane there so he can work locally.

The county board can ask him to pay up to $10 for the year because he is registering in person in the county where he will work.

How to Calculate

Fee = $10 if the pilot registers in person in the county where he will work; otherwise Fee = $5 if the pilot is already registered in another county and is adding this county.

  1. Find out if the pilot is registering for the first time in the county where he will work.
  2. If yes, the fee is $10 per year.
  3. If the pilot is already registered in a different county and is just adding another county, the fee is $5 per year.

Pilot Sam is already registered in County X and now wants to add County Y so he can fly there too.

Result: Fee = $5 per year
