§ 11482 Fee Refund Conditions

• •You can get a refund before the department does any work for you.
• •You can get a refund if you paid too much, paid twice, or made a mistake when paying.
• •The refund can be for the whole amount or just part of it.

Jane pays a city fee for a building permit, but then decides not to build and asks for her money back before any plans are reviewed.

Because the city hasn't started any work yet, the law lets Jane get a full refund. If she had paid the fee twice by accident, the law also lets her get the extra money back.
