§ 1116 Dispute Resolution Evidence Rules

• •This law does not change a court's power to make people try to solve problems without a trial.
• •If you sign a contract saying you'll try mediation first, this law doesn’t make that agreement stronger or weaker.
• •This law doesn’t make secret talks in mediation usable in court if they weren’t allowed before.

You sign a contract to build a house, and the contract says you have to try mediation if there’s a problem.

This law doesn’t change that rule—you still have to try mediation first if the contract says so. Also, if you say something private in mediation, it can’t be used in court later just because of this law.
