§ 1044 Medical Record Access Rights

Key Takeaways

  • •This law doesn't change who can see your medical or mental health records.
  • •Other laws (Sections 996 or 1016) still decide who gets to see those records.
  • •If someone could see your records before, they still can.

Example

Your doctor wants to share your medical records with another doctor.

This law doesn’t stop that. The rules in Sections 996 or 1016 still say if it’s okay or not.
