§ 7612 Filling Committee Member Vacancies

Key Takeaways

  • •If a member leaves the committee for any reason, the person who picked them gets to choose a replacement.
  • •If the person who picked the member is no longer on the committee or doesn't want to pick a replacement, the committee itself will choose someone new.
  • •The committee must tell the person who gets to fill the empty spot as soon as possible.

Example

Imagine you're on a school club, and your friend who was picked by the teacher quits. The teacher gets to pick someone new to take your friend's spot.

If the teacher is no longer in the club or doesn't want to pick someone, then the club members will choose a new person instead. The club must tell the teacher (or whoever gets to pick) right away that there's an empty spot.
