§ 7228 Uncontested Committee Candidate Election

Key Takeaways

  • •If not enough people run for a committee spot in an election, their names won't be on the ballot.
  • •If the number of candidates is equal to or less than the spots available, those candidates automatically win.
  • •The election officials will just declare those candidates as winners without a vote.

Example

Imagine only 3 people sign up to run for 3 open spots on a school committee.

Since there are exactly enough people running for the spots, their names won't even appear on the ballot. The election officials will just say they won automatically.
