§ 6647 Delegate Alternate Voting Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •If a delegate can't go to the convention, their backup (alternate) goes instead.
  • •The backup can do everything the delegate was supposed to do.
  • •But if the delegate shows up, the backup can't vote for them.

Example

Imagine your team's captain can't go to a big meeting, so the vice-captain goes instead.

The vice-captain can talk and do everything the captain would do. But if the captain shows up later, the vice-captain can't vote or talk for the captain anymore.
