§ 6043 Presidential Candidate Ballot Removal

Key Takeaways

  • •If a person running for President changes their mind and says they don’t want to run anymore, they can sign a paper saying so.
  • •This paper must be given to the Secretary of State on time, and they must also send similar papers to other states having presidential primaries.
  • •If they do this, their name won’t be on the ballot in this state.

Example

A person named John is running for President but decides he doesn’t want to run anymore.

John signs a paper saying he’s not running and gives it to the Secretary of State on time. He also sends the same paper to other states. Because of this, John’s name won’t show up on the ballot.
