§ 6342 Presidential Candidate Withdrawal Affidavit

Imagine a person named John says he wants to be president, but later decides he doesn’t want to run anymore.

John has to tell the state he’s quitting at least 68 days before the vote. If he does, his name won’t be on the ballot. If he waits too long, his name stays on the ballot even if he doesn’t want to be president.
