§ 4103 Mail Ballot Deadline Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •Mail-in ballots must be returned to the elections office by 8 p.m. on election day.
  • •If you mail your ballot, it can arrive up to 3 days after election day and still count, but it must be postmarked or dated by election day.
  • •If your ballot has no postmark or an unclear one, the elections office will check the date you signed it to make sure it was on or before election day.
  • •Only real mail companies (like USPS or FedEx) can deliver your ballot for it to count.

Example

You mail your ballot on election day, but it arrives 2 days late.

Your vote will still count if the postmark shows you mailed it by election day. If there’s no postmark, the elections office will check when you signed the envelope to make sure it was on time.
