§ 16701 Election Certificate Annulment

This law says that if the wrong person gets a certificate for winning an election, or if there's a tie in a general election, the court can cancel that certificate.

Key Takeaways

  • •If the wrong person gets an election certificate, the court can cancel it.
  • •If there's a tie in a general election, the court can also cancel any certificates given out.
  • •This makes sure the correct person is declared the winner.

Example

Imagine two people running for mayor, and the election officials accidentally give the winner's certificate to the person who lost.

The court can step in and cancel that wrong certificate, making sure the right person is declared the winner.
