§ 13306 Late Voter Guide Exemptions

This law says people who sign up to vote late don’t get mailed county guides or candidate letters, but they still get a notice about where to vote and a state guide, and they get a bold warning that they’re late.

Key Takeaways

  • •If you register after the 54th day before an election, the county won’t mail you a local voter guide or candidate statements.
  • •Late registrants still get a polling‑place notice and a state voter information guide.
  • •If you register after the 29th day before an election, even the state guide isn’t mailed to you.
  • •All late registrants receive a bold printed notice saying they’re late and won’t get the county guide or candidate letters.

Example

Maria registers to vote 40 days before the election.

Because she signed up after the 54‑day deadline, the county won’t mail her a local voter guide or any candidate statements. She will still get a notice telling her her polling place and a state voter guide, plus a bold note that says she’s a late registrant and isn’t getting the county guide or candidate letters.
