§ 12285 Mobilehome Polling Place Rules

This law lets a mobilehome be used as a voting site when there’s no other convenient place for residents, and landlords can’t forbid it.

Key Takeaways

  • •The elections official can choose a mobilehome as a polling place only if no other suitable site exists.
  • •The mobilehome must be officially designated under the rules in Section 12286.
  • •Rental agreements cannot forbid the use of a mobilehome for voting.

Example

A mobilehome park has no nearby school or community center, so the elections official picks one of the park’s mobilehomes to be the voting location.

Because there’s no other place, the official can name the mobilehome as a polling place, and the lease can’t stop the owner from letting people vote there.
