§ 12221 Precinct Boundary Definitions

This law says that whenever a precinct (like a voting area) is created, its borders must be described using written descriptions or shown on a map.

Key Takeaways

  • •Any order that creates a precinct must include a clear boundary description.
  • •The description can be a written (exterior) description or a map drawing.
  • •This ensures everyone knows the exact limits of the precinct.

Example

A town council decides to make a new voting district for the next election.

The council has to write down exactly where the district starts and ends, or draw it on a map, so everyone knows the precise limits.
