§ 10303 Governor Appoints Election Commissioners

This law says that when a city asks for election officials, the governor must look at the request, maybe ask for more proof, and if convinced, pick three people to run elections in that city.

Key Takeaways

  • •The city must first submit a petition to the governor.
  • •The governor can ask for more evidence before deciding.
  • •If the governor believes the petition is true, he or she appoints three election commissioners for that city.

Example

The town of Riverdale wants a new election board, so it sends a petition to the governor.

The governor checks the petition, asks for extra documents if needed, and once happy that everything is true, chooses three residents to be the election commissioners for Riverdale.
