§ 87809 Community College Salary Payment

Key Takeaways

  • •If a community college doesn't pay a teacher or staff member who has a valid work contract, the county can step in.
  • •The county can take money from the college's funds to pay the person what they are owed.
  • •This only happens if the contract is checked and approved by the county's legal advisor.

Example

A community college forgets to pay a math teacher for three months, even though she has a signed contract.

The county can take money from the college's budget and pay the teacher directly so she gets her salary.
