§ 82537 Community College Facility Use

Key Takeaways

  • •Community colleges can let people and groups use their buildings and grounds for meetings, events, or activities like learning, sports, or talking about important stuff.
  • •The college can set rules for using their space, like when and how it can be used, but they can't let one person or group take all the space for themselves.
  • •Using the college space can't get in the way of normal school stuff, like classes or student activities.
  • •The college is in charge of making sure everything runs smoothly and fairly when people use their space.

Example

A local book club wants to meet at the community college library every month to discuss books.

The college can say yes and let them use a room, but they might set rules like 'no food in the library' or 'meetings must end by 9 PM.' They can't let the book club use the room all the time if other groups also want to use it. And if the library is needed for a school event, the book club might have to cancel their meeting that day.
