§ 48930 Student Body Organization Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •Students can create clubs or groups in public schools, but the school board must approve and can set rules.
  • •The club's activities must be helpful to students and not cause problems for the school.
  • •The school can let the club use school buildings or property for free, but they can also set rules for how it's used.

Example

A group of students wants to start a chess club at their school.

They need to ask the school board for permission first. If the school says yes, they can use a classroom for their meetings, but they have to follow the school's rules, like not meeting during class time.
