§ 35000 School District Naming Rules

• •When a new school district is created, the first thing its leaders must do is give it a name.
• •Elementary school districts must be named like '____ District' and cannot have numbers in their names.
• •Unified school districts must be named like '____ Unified School District' and also cannot have numbers in their names.

A new school district is formed in a town called Sunnyville.

The leaders of the new district must name it something like 'Sunnyville Unified School District' if it's a unified district, or 'Sunnyville District' if it's an elementary district. They cannot name it something like 'District 5' or 'Sunnyville 1 Unified School District' because numbers are not allowed in the name.
